SKF Automotive Packaging re-launches the CR seals brand

Image
SKF, a leading global supplier of premium quality bearings, seals and related products, introduced a new packaging design for its vehicle aftermarket products in 2017. This introduction was a continuation of a global roll out of the new packaging that started in 2016. In addition to synchronizing the global packaging, SKF – inspired by the 140th anniversary in 2018 of the founding of Chicago Rawhide (CR) – has decided to re-launch the CR Seals brand as a pure product brand within the SKF portfolio. Chicago Rawhide, founded in 1878, became a well-known supplier of seals to a variety of industry segments, including automotive, industrial, truck and marine markets. CR was acquired by SKF in 1990 and the brand was eventually retired in 2007. Since then, CR has maintained high brand recognition in the market where many channel partners still use the CR name. The SKF packaging design stays true to the company’s traditional blue color for bearings and green color for seals, and incorpor

New remote monitor for automatic lubrication systems

Image
SKF announces the introduction of its LRM2 lubrication remote monitor. Compatible with oil or grease, the monitor is designed for use with lubrication systems that cannot be checked daily due to the nature or position of the application. The LRM2 can be used on single-line, dual-line and progressive lubrication systems and can communicate with a pump or group of pumps on a system of the same type. The monitor utilises a SIM card similar to those found in cell phones to send and receive text messages via iOS or android mobile devices or via e-mail to a computer. Featuring two digital inputs and outputs, the LRM2 sends both low-level and fault messages. The monitor can be used to start an additional lubrication cycle and can be reset simply by sending a message from a mobile device or computer. In addition, no special software is required as system information can be accessed using a web browser. The LRM2 is suitable for wind energy, railroad wayside, cable car and wastewater tre

Quality Powermite/Conductix festoon systems keep electric bulk materials handling machinery moving

Image
Mobile electric bulk materials handling machinery found across a wide spectrum of sectors, from open cast and underground mines to quarries, stockyards and ports, require energy, data, air and/or fluids to operate. Extended uptime and high productivity levels, a consequence of equipment reliability and longevity, are fundamental to sustainable production and subsequently the profitability of these large operations. Consequently, it is paramount that festoon systems, the life blood of these machines, operate seamlessly, even under the harshest conditions. “Incorporating state-of-the-art, world-class technology, our specialised Conductix festoon systems are next level when it comes to quality, reliability and efficiency,” notes Rolf Lung, Managing Director of Powermite, a specialist supplier of electrical and mechanical equipment for moving machinery to local industry for close on 50 years. “Powermite aligns itself only with quality products and the Conductix-Wampfler brand is renow

SKF ReMan extends service life of centre suction roll bearing after more than 20 000 hours of operation!

Image
SKF ReMan delivered a 60% cost saving to a key paper mill customer by refurbishing a SKF centre suction roll bearing which had exceeded 20 000 hours of service life. When the SKF suction roll bearing which was installed at the paper mill in November 2015, reached over 20 000 hours of operation, the paper mill pulled the bearing out of service on its scheduled change. The customer sent the bearing to SKF’s Witfield facility in Boksburg where, following a detailed damage assessment, the product was declared fit for remanufacture. The capabilities of SKF ReMan once again came to the fore when its competent team of qualified technicians ReMan’ed the bearing to SKF Global Quality standards and delivered the product to the paper mill within one week. SKF ReMan delivered substantial cost savings to the customer as the cost of remanufacture was only 40% of the price of a new bearing. In addition, the short lead time of only a week kept the paper mill’s downtime to an absolute minimum and
